PSTN End of life

PSTN and ISDN lines are coming to the end of their life and will be switched off by BT Openreach in 2025

The Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) is an ageing technology and will become end of life in December 2025.

Broadband services have increased in their quality and reliability over the past 10 years. This means that the appetite for fixed line telephony analogue services is no longer there and traditional fixed lines for calls will cease to exist. The priority for broadband services going forward is high speed, high availability fibre optical connections and these will be more reliable and deliver better quality voice than legacy Infrastructure, which is also becoming more difficult to maintain.

ISDN and PSTN products will no longer be sold from 2023 so you need to start thinking about getting a high-speed Fibre internet connection or leased line and moving to VoIP today.
